You are welcome to come along with us on our horse pack trip for a special, unique vacation in the secluded Montana & Wyoming Beartooth Wilderness. The only way to experience this remote backcountry is riding horseback or on foot. This is a great place to go to get away from it all.
Imagine riding a trail wise, mountain horse to our remote elk park backcountry base camp. It is about a two hour horseback ride from the trailhead off of the Beartooth Highway to our camp. Our camp is located at the head of a beautiful meadow, filled with colorful wildflowers. It consists of large wall tents, equipped with army cots for our guests; a large cook tent, where the meals are prepared; and a fire pit where you can warm your toes. We also provide a guide/tack tent, wranglers & cook, a latrine, and a hitch rail.
We furnish the camp, tents, horses, saddles & tack, wrangler / guides, cook, food & meals, and do the camp chores. All you need to bring is your personal gear, sleeping bag & pad, camera, and binoculars. If you’d like to fish, you’ll need your fishing gear and fishing license. We have a roughly 35 lbs total limit on your gear.
After a hearty breakfast, we take a horseback ride to a different fishing area each day. The scenery is breathtaking with spectacular vistas only experienced by a handful of people. There are several hundred, pristine, high alpine lakes and streams full of willing trout for those that want to fish. For the non-fisherman, this area offers unlimited sightseeing, wildlife viewing, photography, geology, hiking and of course horseback riding or just relaxing in the backcountry.
